What will we be doing?

There will be a community meal with participants bringing a dish to share.   A six-foot loom will be set up for the creation of a tapestry.

Question 2

What food should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Bring a dish to share at the community meal.  You are invited to bring a dish that represents your culture or faith.   Also, bring copies of the recipe to add to the experience.  The dish should feed about ten people.

What else should I bring?

Accepted Answer

The community-activated art begins with everyone bringing fabrics/textiles.  This could be ribbons, old t-shirts, table or bed linens, dad's favorite shirt, a long-ago used baby blanket.  Anything that has personal meaning to you can be used.

Question 4

What happens to the fabric?

Accepted Answer

You and your family or friend will cut the fabric in strips.  (Scissors will be provided).  Together, you will write on the strip a prayer, scripture, wish or any words that express a spiritual message.   These strips will all be incorporated into a woven tapestry.

What is the purpose of all this?

Weaving has been an art and craft form that has spanned thousands of years
across all cultures. Prayer also is woven into the lives of all people of faiths and 
connects our faith traditions.  The project collects prayers of each individual being shared as one united prayer in one work of tapestry.

Are childen allowed?

Families are welcome.  We ask parents to supervise their children and encourage to involve them in this event.   No childcare will be available.

What community organizations are involved?

Women's Interfaith Spirituality Heritage (also known as WISH) has organized this event along with collaboration from Akron Area Interfaith Council.   Much assistance was provided by Nowhere Collective and their project called Loom360.
