Textile: from Bauhaus to LA, who changed the rules, what cloth became, and why the hand still matters.
Threads have a long memory.
Interweave collected the work of eight remarkable contemporary woman textile artists. Join us to close out the exhibit at Interweave: Material & Process, a night of looking closely, talking shop, and lingering over a drink.
At 7PM, Carrie Burckle, Director of Textile Arts Los Angeles, and Interweave artist Cameron Taylor-Brown will follow the line from the Bauhaus weaving workshop to California studios today: who changed the rules, what cloth became, and why the hand still matters. Then artists from the show will pick up the thread, sharing the materials they love, the habits of their process, and the pieces that tell the story best.
The evening:
- 6-7PM: Drinks, small bites, and time with the work
- 7-8PM: The talk, with questions from the audience
- 8-9PM: Stay and connect
Bring a friend who loves cloth, or one who's about to!
