Master the Art of Interviewing for Documentary!

﻿Saturday, July 29 , 2023 | 9:30am-12:30PM (In person)This workshop is designed for filmmakers of all levels who want to take their interviewing skills to the next level. Participants will gain key insights and techniques for conducting effective interviews, including how to prepare for the interview, ask relevant questions, and elicit compelling stories from interviewees. We'll also cover the importance of sound and the best ways to capture it, plus practice a simple camera setup for a formal interview. Ultimately, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to capture the essence of their subjects, which will make their own documentaries more engaging and impactful. BYOS for lunch. She has over 10 years of experience working as a video journalist and documentary filmmaker. For four years she was based in Egypt covering women's rights and social justice issues. Her work has been featured on the BBC, The New York Times, MSNBC, The Huffington Post, Voice of America, AJ+, TIME and The Guardian. Previously, Montasir was an adjunct lecturer teaching Multimedia Storytelling at Northwestern University.LOCATION: Docs In Progress8560 2nd Ave Suite 113, Silver Spring, MD 20910Docs In Progress is located on the ground level of the Alexander House.
