Title of talk: Thinking Decolonially Through An Intersectional Lens.Abstract: This presentation will examine questions of coloniality and decoloniality in the context of contemporary Britain. Apart from thinking through the conceptual development of these terms, it will explore how a study of knowledge regimes may be complimented by analysis of economic and political dimensions. It will foreground the relationship between coloniality/decoloniality and the long-standing discourse of postcolonialism. How do they interrelate and/or differ? The talk will highlight the current workings of borders and boundaries as people move round the world and constitute different modes and forms of diasporas. How are diasporas differentiated ? How best to address them? How do gender, class and sexuality feature in the construction of diasporic and ‘native’ identities? Decolonial Imaginings is to a considerable extent about the politics of alterity and alliance. The presentation will conclude with reflections on how to forge alliances across differences in construction of cosmopolitan futures.<ul> </ul>Register now and secure your spot.
