About this event

Critical discussions around the governance of the Internet and digital technologies are taking place in a range of forums. Their outcomes could determine whether or not the Internet remains global, open, and interoperable, as well as the future of its multistakeholder governance model. As such, it’s critical for civil society actors to engage in a more informed, strategic and coordinated way.

This virtual session, aimed at civil society actors worldwide, aims to raise awareness and share information about the current state of play in Internet and digital policy governance, and will provide a space for attendees to share their priorities, and identify specific opportunities for coordinated engagement.

This session is organised by Global Partners Digital and will be moderated by Konstantinos Komaitis.

Agenda:

  • Introduction and objectives for the session;
  • Setting the scene. The Internet and digital policy governance landscape; Ongoing processes (WSIS+20, GDC, NM+10, IGF) and what is at stake for human rights defenders; Upcoming milestones and opportunities for engagement.
  • Interventions by discussants;
  • Open discussion with attendees;
  • Conclusions and closing remarks.
