Born and raised in Santiago, Chile, Pablo has been for more than two decades on the front line of Latin Jazz and Salsa music in the Midwest, leading and mentoring three generations of musicians of all backgrounds. Sanhueza is a master artist for the Missouri Traditional Arts program and was the featured jazz presenter honoring Kansas City’s jazz heritage at the Missouri Bi-Centennial Celebrations in 2021, US the Department of State, and has served as Musical Director for Tito Puente Jr. In 2021, Sanhueza’s Orchestra received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts to support a commission and collaboration with NEA Jazz Master, pianist, composer, and band leader Maestro Eddie Palmieri. On April 23, 2022, Sanhueza was a featured artist at the Charles Mingus Centennial Jazz Festival in Nogales, Arizona. The artistic ethos of the orchestra is based on a commitment to passing on musical knowledge and transmitting values that enlighten and edify our communities and local artistic ecosystem. Our programming contributes to the preservation and creative advancement of the art form as well as generating a sustainable and equitable music industry in our region.
