Markham, ON, L3R 2Y7Time: Saturday, July 26th 2025, at 2-5pm The Daniels Faculty, the City of Markham, and Industrial Arts presents an exhibit titled “Interactive Thresholds”, an exploration of the architectural threshold as a behavioral and technological interface. Designed and built by Daniels undergraduate students and faculty of the 2025 Design Build course <a href="https://www.daniels.utoronto.ca/socialtechnological" title="https://www.daniels.utoronto.ca/socialtechnological" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">social/technological</a>, “Interactive Thresholds” is an exploration of the architectural threshold as a behavioral and technological interface. It argues that: technology is social; it shapes and is shaped by human life. It contributes to relationships between humans, and therefore influences social structures, power dynamics, and the way people connect. It can sometimes be tools of power, resistance, agency, and transformation. It is co-produced with society, and is fundamentally social. By framing doors and thresholds as sites of collaboration between society and technology, the exhibition invites visitors to experience firsthand the ways in which built form and digital systems converge to mediate our interactions with the world. Join us at the exhibition event on Saturday, July 26th 2025 at 2-5pm, at Industrial Arts, Markham.
