Rabbi Asher Altshul
Rabbi Asher Altshul is the Rabbi and Community Leader at Or Azion (Brooklyn, NY) and has served as a director of Elite High School since 2009. He is the winner of the “Teacher of the Year 2011” international teachers contest, Moscow. In 1992 Rabbi Altshul with his family immigrated from Ukraine to Israel. After graduating from Yeshivat "Chorev", Jerusalem in 1994, he continued rabbinical studies in Yeshivat "Makor Chaim" (R. Adin Steinsaltz) and Kolel Chabad in Jerusalem. During the summer and the High Holidays of 1993 and 1995 Asher worked as an assistant of the Chief Rabbi of Odessa, Ukraine. In 1997, Rabbi Altshul joined the IDF and served in Intelligence Service of Central Command. After completion of the army service in 1999 he was hired by Creo Inc. as a programmer, and then worked in the same company as Application Creator. In 2002 Asher was invited to teach in Sinai Academy in New York where he worked for six years. In 2003 Rabbi Altshul founded the "Or Azion" - Russian-speaking community at Jewish Center "Nachalat Zion".
