Intensive Bioethics Course 42
The <A STYLE="color: #0cc99c; text-decoration: none;" TITLE="IBC 41" HREF="https://ibc.georgetown.edu/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Intensive Bioethics Course</A> at Georgetown is a week-long academic program in bioethics designed for health care practitioners, policy makers, and clinical researchers.
The course will be held from June 7-10, 2016. Check the <A STYLE="color: #0cc99c; text-decoration: none;" TITLE="Intensive Bioethics Course at Georgetown University" HREF="https://ibc.georgetown.edu/" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">IBC website</A> for more information. Full payment of tuition is due no later than May 22nd, 2016. No refunds will be given after May 16th, 2015.
The course provides an intensive introduction to key principles of bioethics in a setting that allows for sustained dialogue through lectures and small discussion groups with a distinguished faculty.
Drawing participants from around the globe, the course is truly intensive, with much of the intellectual exchange occurring over shared meals and in extra discussions organized around participants' special interests.
In addition to core lectures on central ethical topics such as beneficence and non-maleficence, justice, pharma and bioethics, euthanasia, and virtues in the caretaking professions, participants have the opportunity to attend more informal, faculty-facilitated discussions on special topics such as religious ethics, futility, animal ethics, and feminist bioethics.
While on the beautiful Georgetown campus, attendees have full access to the <A STYLE="color: #0cc99c; text-decoration: none;" TITLE="Bioethics Research Library" HREF="http://bioethics.georgetown.edu/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bioethics Research Library</A>, the world's largest collection of bioethics resources, as well as research assistance from Bioethics Research Library staff.
We are proud to offer a limited number of need-based scholarships to international participants from developing countries. The scholarships offer support for tuition and lodging at the IBC (up to 8 nights), but do not cover travel expenses. Applications are due by March 14, 2016.

Clinical Ethics Pre-Session (Tuesday, June 7 from 9 am - 12 pm)
The half-day clinical ethics program has been designed to provide participants with the opportunity of seeing how faculty from Georgetown's Center for Clinical Bioethics describe the current challenges in clinical ethics, structure the hospital ethics committee and ethics consultation team, and conduct ethics rounds and ethics workups. The workshop will last three hours and include an overview of the current state-of-the-art of clinical bioethics, an exploration of its methods and tools, e.g., ethics committees, consult team, case workup, methodologies, evaluation strategies, etc., and a concluding case study to facilitate application of this material.
Research Ethics Post-Session (Saturday, June 11 from 9 am - 1 pm)
Come workshop a clinical research dilemma at a half-day session in Georgetown's innovative EthicsLab. This intimate workshop, capped at nine participants and facilitated by KIE director Maggie Little and the Lab's design faculty, invites attendees to bring their own research ethics problems for intensive scrutiny and exploration. EthicsLab's team-based approach brings together ethics experts, designers, and those on the front lines of real-world issues in practical ethics, with the goal of making tangible progress on some of the most pressing moral issues of our time.
