Blockchain, like other innovations in InsurTech, is disrupting business functions across the insurance industry including, information systems and cybersecurity, risk management, actuarial, data science, audit and financial control, legal, compliance, and brokerages. Old models of the insurance market, with high transaction costs, fraud and inaccuracies in claims, are ripe for greater efficiencies and disintermediation. Just a few figures to illustrate this:

<LI>Close to a half trillion dollars are spent annually in the US on administrative costs for health insurance*</LI>
<LI>The average US household pays a premium of $400-700 a year for insurance fraud (not counting healthcare)</LI>
<LI>PWC estimates that Blockchain can deliver $5-10 billion in savings on reinsurance</LI>

Yet with these opportunities come regulatory and related data privacy and security issues.  Come and listen to some leaders in Blockchain implementation and experts in data privacy, compliance, and leading Yeshiva University Cardozo Law School & Katz School faculty explain and discuss these technologies and challenges.
Leaders from three innovative NYC-based companies in InsurTech and Data Privacy will participate in a panel discussion preceded by short presentations. The discussion will be facilitated by faculty from the Cardozo School of Law Masters in Data and Privacy Law and Katz School Masters in Enterprise Risk Management Programs at Yeshiva University. Networking opportunities will be available before and after the event. 
Please note that the discussion will get into the specific trends and issues around Blockchain and the risk and insurance market, and will not be covering basic info on Blockchain technology, so to learn more about Blockchain before this event, view the following short videos:

Wendy Callaghan, AIG Chief Innovation Legal Officer and Associate General Counsel, leads a team of attorneys who advise on legal issues regarding innovative technologies, products, services and business models, including blockchain/DLT, AI/machine learning, IoT, Sharing Economy and Autonomous Vehicles. Prior to joining AIG, Wendy was a member of the Technology Practice Group at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, LLP. She graduated from the Rutgers School of Law, with High Honors, and the State University of New York College, summa cum laude.
Stephen Graves is CEO & Founder of CertifiedTrue™, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) providing a secure method to immutably bind time, location and ownership of data at its origin and enable a secure chain of custody. CertifiedPhoto™ provides a secure process that captures, stores and authenticates a digital photo as well as CERTifying when and where the photo was taken and who took it.
Douglas Graham is CEO of Ideation Inc., a company that is building an ERP using blockchain for managing innovation in the enterprise and funding early stage innovation. Douglas managed Circle Trust Company, a bank with $8.5 billion in assets. He was Managing Director at KPMG and led an eight-figure award winning consulting practice focused on CyberSecurity, Governance and Compliance.
Dmitry Kosten is the Founder of 3D Business Solutions, which is building a blockchain enabled health insurance company in Russia from the ground up. 3D's vision outlines the insurance industry ecosystem using blockchain technology, smart contracts, and peer-to-peer architecture, and their research validates that blockchain technology provides an opportunity to significantly improve the insurance business model.

Prakash Vanguri is the Head of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function at Healthfirst and adjunct faculty member in the Master of Science in Enterprise Risk Management at Yeshiva University’s Katz School. He is a thought leader with over 15 years of ERM experience and served U.S. and emerging markets.
