Do I need to be a skillful writer to attend?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Insight Writing was designed specifically for people who don't identify as writers. There's no experience necessary, no pressure to produce anything polished, and no wrong way to do it. If you can hold a pen, you're ready.

Question 2

What happens during the gathering?

Accepted Answer

Each session includes an easy way to dip your toes into the writing water, timed freewriting with pen and paper (highly preferred over devices), and an optional sharing circle in a held, compassionate space. You'll leave with words on the page and a quieter mind.

Question 3

Do I have to share what I write?

Accepted Answer

Sharing is always optional. This is a no-pressure space. Some people share, some prefer to keep their writing private — both are completely welcome. The practice is about what surfaces for you, not about performing for others.

Question 4

What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Just yourself, a notebook and pen. Come as you are. A laptop or tablet for writing is not strictly prohibited, but Insight Writing is a screen-free practice by design. Writing by hand slows us down, quiets the inner editor, and opens up a different kind of thinking.

Question 5

What if I'm late or need to cancel?

Life happens —  come on in quietly. You may miss instructions for the exercise - relax and write about what it feels like to be late. If you need to cancel, update your registration through Eventbrite.  Refunds, minus event fees, offered only if cancelled at least 2 days prior to event.

Question 6

Can I bring my lunch?

Accepted Answer

This kind of writing is fast and requires attention - not easy to do if you're also trying to eat lunch. So I would not recommend more than a light snack during the event.
