Inside/Out with Metamorphosis

With our intense focus on personal narratives, the combined talents of our diverse collective of artists, and the multiple artistic languages with which we communicate, Cerqua Rivera engages audiences in magnetic human stories at once new and deeply familiar.Our season extends spring through fall, culminating in a fall concert series where the year’s new work debuts in full production, performed by our Dance Ensemble and 1Jazz Band.We produce a monthly summer series called Inside/Out – new work preview performances and discussions where audiences get involved in the art and get to know our artists.We also perform in community and school settings, partnering with peer organizations and teaching young people about the many influences that have shaped dance in America. Get up close and personal with METAMORPHOSIS - our three-year exploration of gender identity

Tickets will be available at the door, cash only.Our innovative Inside/Out series returns to Studio5 in Evanston!Join us to preview and discuss the ongoing evolution of METAMORPHOSIS. This three-year project, launched in 2020, is inspired by non-binary/gender queer and trans Chicago dance artists. Cerqua Rivera collaborators have embarked on an inquiry into the fast-evolving definitions of gender identity. This exploration will involve questioning traditional roles, exploring progressive identities, and navigating the conflicting crossroads where communities meet.Work in progress will be performed and discussed by members of our company. Choreography by Shannon Alvis and Katlin Bourgeois; Music by Joe CerquaTickets $15 - 30. All patrons must wear face coverings to ensure a welcoming and safe environment. Cerqua Rivera&#x27;s artists, who are all vaccinated, will not be masked.Inside/Out is our interactive event series that showcases works in progress and invites you INSIDE the creative process. Each event includes performance of new work-in-the-making, conversation with the artists, audience participation activities, and the opportunity for you to shape the new work with your feedback and input. FAQsHow will you keep audiences and artists safe at this event?All patrons must wear face coverings.
