As long as I can remember growing up in Dubuque Iowa, I was always invloved with experimenting with and creating arts and crafts pieces. Thanks to my creative mother for encouraging me to pursue a career in Graphic Design.I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa State University in Graphic Design. Always taking some fine art courses throughout my education. My career began at The University of Iowa as a graphic artist. Over 20 years I was creating displays, illustrating, calligraphing awards and certificates and designing graphics for the faculty and staff at the University.In November of 2015, I was preparing for a 6-week recovery time from a back surgery for activities to fill my time. Besides knitting, reading and watching movies, I was drawn to Pinterest posts featuring colorful Alcohol Ink Paintings. Needless to say, I was addicted immediately (no pun intended). I researched intensely for 6 months until I got brave and tried this unpredictable art form. Little did I know there is a whole community of Alcohol Ink Artists all over the world, who teach and share techniques and ideas to create beautiful pieces of art. I was consumed in learning this meditative art, by watching videos and taking a lot of online classes, and practicing. My studio soon began filling up with my art, so I donated pieces for non-profit auctions, and gifted to family and friends. It was so rewarding to find people really loving my art. I was encouraged to push a little further to create products, and pieces to sell.I am married to Doug Brayton for 35 years. We have a son and 2 daughters all grown and one new grandson.My Alcohol Ink paintings can be found at local gift shops, furniture stores and art fairs in Iowa and Illinois. I have commissioned pieces created for private homes, local spas, and hotels. My studio is in my home in Coralville. I continue to create with Alcohol Ink and want to share my meditative art to other students.

On Tuesday, June 25th from 6-8pm, come to Press Coffee and get your creative juices flowing with a French press coffee or yummy latte or refreshing lemonade. We will also have donuts and sandwiches as available. Then get to work making your own colorful designs with the guidance of Diana -- no experience necessary!</DIV>
