About this event
Congratulations, you've decided to pursue a career in book design! But, maybe you're one of a handful—or even, the only—in your department who is a person of color. How is that going to affect your day-to-day work? Where do you find more designers like you? How do you make sure you can have a voice in the work you produce? What kind of micro- and macroaggressions will you likely face?
In this Spotlight, Dominique Jones will discuss navigating the publishing industry as a black designer, through her personal experiences working in-house and through her self-founded non-profit dedicated to BIPOC designers.
Titled, BIPOC in Design Spaces, this event will take place Wednesday, April 23rd at 6PM EST. Registration will close on April 22nd, at 1PM EST.
This event will help raise funds for Inkluded to allow us to continue our mission into 2025.
Dominique Jones is a Brooklyn-born Senior Designer at Dutton, an imprint of Penguin Random House. She’s known for her striking book covers and organization, Blk + Brwn Book Designers, Inc. to foster diversity within the publishing industry and empower conversations around inclusion.
