About this event

Join NCW Tech Alliance for a special tour of Sunrise Orchard - WSU Tree Fruit Research & Extension Center (TFREC)'s primary research orchard in Rock Island that has been an active research site for over 15 years.

The tour will led by Chad Kruger, Director of WSU's TFREC in Wenatchee and Center for Sustaining Agriculture & Natural Resources. Chad will take us on a walking tour of the research orchard as we learn about its purpose, practices, infrustructure, technology used, soil health, breeding program and other horticultural programs.

Tour Requirements: Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable, closed toe footwear as we will be walking on uneven ground. We will be outside for the duration of this tour so we encourage you to bring water and wear a hat & sunscreen if the weather is warm. This tour is not advised for young children.

Tour Directions & Parking: If you are traveling from Wenatchee, it can be a hazardous left turn from Hwy 28 onto Sunrise Lane SW. You may wish to turn right onto Helena Rd, make a U-Turn and cross over to Sunrise Lane SW when safe to do so. Parking is available on Sunrise Court alongside the Orchard.
