Join us for a space where you can cool off, let your mind relax, and be inspired by creative people in your community!
The Stitched Shibori Workshop will start promptly at 5:30 and will introduce you to basic techniques for using needle and thread to create unique Shibori patterns. Shibori is a Japanese craft where fabric is folded or gathered in order to create areas that will resist dye when dipped. Basic hand sewing skills are helpful, but not required.
At 6:30pm we’ll open the indigo dye buckets and let the party begin! We’ll provide the indigo dye, basic dyeing supplies, and know how. Indigo is the beautiful blue color classically used for the blue jeans and is created when a plant based green dye is exposed to the air and turns blue right before your eyes! Yes, it’s magical! We’ll have cotton tees and bandanas available with a donation to Art Equals, or bring your own piece of natural materia like cotton, linen, silk, or wool.
