About this event

  • 2 hours

Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory (SAFL), owned and operated by the University of Minnesota, is an interdisciplinary fluid mechanics research lab and educational facility under the College of Science and Engineering. The North Star chapter has had most interesting visits there twice in the past but it has been a while. Located on Hennepin Island in the Mississippi River in the heart of Minneapolis, SAFL serves as a resource for departments across the Twin Cities campus, the statewide University system, and the broader research community. They partner with local, state and federal agencies; private consulting firms; businesses of many kinds; technical associations; and other educational institutions to expand knowledge and solve problems related to the Great Mississippi, it’s management, preservation and use.

We will, as usual, open with a pizza social and networking time. We will then learn of the current efforts and projects now underway and then proceed on a comprehensive tour of the facilities and experiments underway today. Please join us for a most informative evening.

Location: 2 SE 3rd Ave, Minneapolis, on Hennepin Island (the river runs through it!).

Parking Details: There is plenty of parking in the lot in front of the facility on 3rd Ave (right off SE Main St.)
