About this event

This program will look at functional medicine/primary care practices and aid the practitioner in making sure all of their diagnostic bases are covered. Functional medicine practitioners are now called upon to be primary care doctors as their role in the health care system has evolved. As many practitioners focus on functional medicine, foundational diagnostics must be incorporated into the everyday practice so as not to miss pathologic processes. A fundamental principle should be to never go with a lesser diagnosis until a more serious diagnosis has been ruled out. In this presentation, Dr. Kleber will discuss what he’s learned in his 42 years in practice and pass that knowledge on to attendees. By sharing case studies, he will discuss some of the mistakes he’s made and what insights he learned from those experiences, along with many outstanding patient outcomes.

Program Goals:

    • Discern common pathologic conditions seen in a functional medicine primary care practice.
    • Recognize the difference between functional medicine processes and pathology.
    • Learn proper diagnostic testing to help differentiate pathology that needs to be referred out and functional imbalances that can readily be treated.

Program Topics:

    • The role of diagnostics in a primary care office
    • Important questions to ask at the consultation
    • Gathering valuable information from past labs
    • Proper testing, referral, and co-treatment of common conditions that present in functional medicine practices that have potential pathologies associated with their symptoms, including:
    • Various cancers
    • Cardiac conditions
    • Liver disease
    • Kidney disorders
    • Common autoimmune diseases

William Kleber DC, DABCI

Dr. Kleber received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at New York Chiropractic College in 1982. He also earned his Diplomate Degree from the American Board of Chiropractic Internists in 2000. He is one of two coordinators of the DABCI program, certified by the Council on Diagnosis and Internal Disorders. His interest in internal medicine began when he came to believe that his patients were suffering from more than just subluxations, but serious internal disorders continually exacerbating the subluxations. His desire to learn more about these issues stemmed from his dedication to improve not only the health of his patients, but the quality of their life, with natural medicine. As a Chiropractic Internist, Dr. Kleber is equipped to diagnose and treat a full spectrum of conditions from a common cold to chronic illness and disease. He is in the unique position of utilizing advanced diagnostic methods to uncover the source of illness and then treat with holistic and natural supplements to correct illness. Early on, he had a keen interest in endocrinology, believing that thyroid disorders are frequently misdiagnosed, misunderstood and poorly managed. He is recognized in the industry for his expertise in the accurate diagnosis and successful treatment of thyroid disorders without pharmaceutical interventions. With 42 years experience, Dr. Kleber has built a successful practice in Colorado, providing alternative options to those who have exhausted the traditional field of medicine with no success. Using a synergistic approach to caring for his patients, Dr. Kleber finds the combination of nutrition, blood work, hormonal balancing, and chiropractic has brought powerful new tools to their successful treatment.
