‘In It Together: Poetry for Two Voices’ Open Mic and Food Drive at St. Paul’s Church in Woodbury on June 4, 6-8 p.m.

SOUTHBURY, CONN. - 7 May 2026 – Orenaug Mountain Publishing of Southbury and Woodbury Poet Laureate Katie Baker are teaming up for their second open mic and food drive at St. Paul’s Church in Woodbury on Thursday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.  The event is titled “In It Together: Poetry for Two Voices.”

“We have an incredible lineup of poets who will share poems that require a second voice–perhaps a second persona in the poem, a call-and-response, or musical accompaniment that will expand our audience and participation,” said Sandy Lee Carlson, managing partner of Orenaug Mountain Publishing and Woodbury’s poet laureate emerita.

Baseball poets Ed Dzitko, Bill Moorhead, and Sarah deBeer; musician and poet Julie Cook, Southbury Poet Laureate Claire Warner, beat poet Patricia Martin, and journalist Jack Sheedy are the featured poets.

Carlson and Baker timed the open mic with the ending of the school year.  “We ask participants to bring a non-perishable food item, paper goods, or diapers to support families who might have less access to food as the summer begins,” said Baker, who is a Region 14 alum and a staff member of Woodbury Public Library.  Baker added, “This is a real, tangible way we can support our community.”
