Description

WHO Europe agreed its first men's health strategy in September 2018.

The strategy is not binding on WHO Europe's 53 member states but it creates a huge opportunity for faster progress in work to improve the health and wellbeing of men and boys.

GAMH and its European member organisations are holding this webinar on the first anniversary of the strategy's adoption.

The aims of the webinar are to:

1. Brief other civil society organisations on the strategy and progress made over the past 12 months.

2. Identify specific issues around which action could be taken by civil society organisations.

3. To consider strategies and tactics for taking action in individual countries and trans-nationally.

4. To identify next steps.

5. Agree a call to action which could form the basis for future work.

The speakers will include:

Isabel Yordi Aguirre (WHO Europe)

Dr Noel Richardson, National Centre for Men's Health (Ireland)

Professor Alan White, Emeritus Professor of Men's Health, Leeds Beckett University (UK)

Dr Svend Aage Madsen, Director, Men's Health Society (Denmark)

Nikki van der Gaag (Promundo)

Professor Ian Banks (European Men's Health Forum), Professor Doris Bardhele (Men's Health Foundation, Germany), Coli Fowler (Men's Health Forum in Ireland) and representatives from GAMH's other member organisations in Europe.

The webinar is aimed at the following:

A. European organisations with an interest in men's health

B. European organisations with an interest in wider men's issues, such as fatherhood, violence prevention and gender equality.

C. European organisations with a focus on public health generally or specific health issues, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and mental health.
