About this event

Dates: This class runs Tuesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, starting June 11th and running for 8 weeks. A showcase will be scheduled as an additional opportunity on an evening during the week of August 10th.

Patterns help us collaborate. Spontaneous group acceptance/collaboration impresses an audience more than individual cleverness. Pattern work rewards an audience for paying attention and enforces the idea that the show was made especially for them.

In our third level, we explore creating patterns and discovering games to propel your scenes forward. You'll get out of your head and into the show by focusing on your team and what they need.

Instructor: Jonathan Nelson

Jonathan Nelson has been teaching Improv 301 at the Coalition since 2018 and brings experience, enthusiasm and empathy to each class. He's worked with the Coalition Theater for over a decade as a performer and producer, originally debuting with slam-poetry/improv fusion duo Slean Dion and house team The Johnsons in 2014. He co-produced many shows with award-winning sketch team Trash Bang and co-created the only children's show yet produced at the Coalition- Tales from the Hungry Book. He's become one of the Coalition's most prolific character performers, featured recently in The Rehappening, Taskmaster and Improvised Dateline. You can currently catch him occasionally as a cast member of Jambalaya and as a part of improv duo Self Help. He also jams as a part of improv music collective Rainbow Soulfood and streams broken games on Twitch.

Prerequisites: Improv 101 and 201. Email info@rvacomedy.com with questions.
