Imposter syndrome is extremely prevalent in higher education and professional fields, up to 82% by some studies. In our profession, we are in a wide range of situations daily interacting with subject matter experts, professionals, and frequently in spaces that we are unfamiliar with which adds to our self-doubt and imposter feelings. In this workshop, we will discuss what imposter syndrome is, what it looks like, and how to combat these feelings.
Participants will:
- Participants will learn about Imposter Syndrome and how it affects our work as interpreters, as well as ways to reduce its impact.
- Participants will be able to define Imposter Syndrome, list its symptoms, and explain ways to reduce the effects and symptoms.
