Community Advocates Public Policy Institute works toward preventing and reducing poverty while improving the quality of life for individuals and families in Milwaukee and throughout Wisconsin. Our varied programs and projects are united in their view that poverty is Milwaukee’s biggest problem.The Public Policy Institute targets poverty in a number of ways: we try to reduce it through nonpartisan changes to relevant public policies and laws; we try to prevent its effects through public health efforts; and we work to increase opportunity and wellness for low-income people by fostering factors related to success, resilience and well-being.

On Tuesday, August 11, Community Advocates Public Policy Institute will host Dr. Erin Winkler from UWM for an Implicit Bias training.

On Tuesday, August 11, <a href="https://ppi.communityadvocates.net/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Community Advocates Public Policy Institute</a> will host <a href="https://uwm.edu/african-diaspora-studies/people/winkler-erin-n/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dr. Erin Winkler from UW-Milwaukee</a> for an Implicit Bias training. Dr. Winkler is an Associate Professor in the College of Letters and Science and focuses on African and African Diaspora Studies. Dr. Winkler’s research interests include racial socialization; racial identity development in African American families and communities; the impact of gender, skin tone, and other demographic factors on racial identity development and responses to racism; and the effect of place on shaping conceptualizations and experiences of race and racism. This training is offered free via Zoom and registration is required. It will not be recorded and space is limited, so please RSVP only if you can attend the training live, as it happens.Details will be emailed to attendees with meeting access instructions.
