<h3>This training is designed for 2022 license renewals only! If you will be renewing in 2023, do NOT take this class to satisfy your requirement. </h3><h3>The classes taught next year and in the future will be longer to meet the 3-hour requirement for license renewals in 2023 onward. </h3><h3>Why Implicit Bias Training?</h3><p>A regulation was added to the Public Health Code’s General Rules. The rule defines implicit bias as “an attitude or internalized stereotype that affects an individual’s perception, action, or decision making in an unconscious manner and often contributes to unequal treatment of people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, age, disability, or other characteristic.”  </p><p>This training is in addition to continuing education training. Unlike the Human Trafficking training, this is not a “one time” requirement. Implicit Bias training is required every time you renew your license. </p><p>Implicit Bias Training is in addition to Continuing Education hours required. Renewing Licenses require one hour of training for every year in the cycle. In other words, a 3-year license needs three hours. However, since the rule is new, those renewing in 2022 only need one hour.  Then the 3-year rule will apply beginning in 2023. </p><p>Training on Implicit Bias is now required of all professions licensed under the Michigan Public Health Code as a condition for both initial and license renewal.</p><p>Class size is limited! Reserve your seat now! </p><h3>Implicit Bias Course Description</h3><p>After taking this course, you will understand the following concepts of Implicit Bias: </p><ul><li>What is meant by implicit or unconscious bias</li><li>How implicit biases are different from explicit (or conscious) biases </li><li>What an implicit bias may look or feel like when it occurs</li><li>How implicit biases are formed</li><li>Why implicit biases matters</li></ul><p>This course meets the requirement for Implicit Bias training requirement established by the State of Michigan for professionals licensed under the Public Health Code.</p><h3>Instructor Paul Mattson, LBSW, LMT</h3><p>Paul earned his degree at Lake Superior State University and graduated from Irene’s Myomassology Institute. In addition to operating a successful massage therapy clinic, he is also an instructor of Foot Reflexology and Professional Development at Irene’s. He brings nearly 30 years of experience as a Social Worker to his career in the helping and healing professions.</p><h3>Class size is limited! Reserve your seat now!  </h3><h3>Cancellation Policy</h3><p>Call the school if you are unable to attend the class. 248-350-1400. A $25 fee is charged for less than five-day notice of cancellation.
