How can you build more accessible websites for screen reader users? Take a deeper look into techniques you can use right now!
About this event
Making a website accessible for screen reader users takes knowledge and intention. It’s important to ensure that screen reader users can access all information and functionality. Often that means using semantic HTML or providing alternative text. Sometimes you have to go beyond what HTML has to offer.
This webinar will take an in-depth look at different kinds of solutions from HTML to ARIA. You’ll learn:
- How to provide labels and descriptions with ARIA.
- CSS solutions, such as using visually hidden text to convey meaning to screen reader users.
- When and how to hide content from assistive technologies.
- Just as important, you will look at common scenarios and learn when to use each technique.
As a celebration of the 35th anniversary of the first screen reader, released in 1986, the cost of this webinar is just $35. This new pricing represents the greatest value for online training that we’ve ever had! Be sure to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to learn.
Meet The Presenter
Alicia Evans spent half a decade supporting people with developmental disabilities through several non-profits before moving into web development. There she saw very clearly the impact that digital inclusion and exclusion could have on a person’s life.
When she moved into web development, she had the great fortune of working as an Accessibility Engineer, remediating websites, building testing software, and providing trainings and documentation for development and design teams.
She currently works for Knowbility as an Accessibility Audit Specialist.
