About this event

Active Response Training will be presenting a one day impact weapons course focusing on teaching simple and effective self-defense techniques using a straight stick, expandable baton, and Kubaton.

The Kubaton is a smaller impact weapon that usually is attached to a key chain. Kubaton techniques can also be utilized with hand held flashlights and stout "tactical" pens.

Students will learn legal considerations for using impact weapons, optimal striking techniques, rapid deployment drills, defenses against common street attacks, and lower force level control options using these weapons. We will also cover how to use the weapons in multiple assailant confrontations and how to defend against potentially life threatening physical attacks.

The class will be a fast-paced combination of striking drills and force on force scenarios with other students.

The instructor will provide all expandable batons, foam training batons, Kubatons, and striking targets used in class.

This class has a moderate level of physical activity. You will be on your feet all day. Most of the time you will be working simulated fighting drills with a partner or partners. There are a few drills in class that will involve striking pads for 30-seconds to one minute at a time.

There is no intentional hard contact and I will not be purposely attempting to wear you out. I will attempt to accommodate any age and injury status so long as you are able to stand most of the day and hit things with sticks.

Fair warning: This class is in no way abusive, but you will be experiencing pain compliance techniques executed by your training partners. It isn't unusual for you to wake up with a few small bruises and have some mild muscle soreness the day after class.

This is the only impact weapons class I am offering in 2024. If you would like to learn this material, here's your chance

It may not be legal to carry your defensive firearm in all locations. Sticks and tool handles are available everywhere. Carrying pens and flashlights is legal activity all over the world. Come learn how to turn those seemingly innocuous objects into effective weapons. You’ll never be unarmed again!

I need 10 students registered 30 days before the class is scheduled in order to fund my travel expenses. If fewer than 10 students sign up, I will cancel the class and give everyone full refinds.
