About this event

  • 1 hour

The Insights for Action seminar series explores how researchers and practitioners within and beyond Oxford are using research insights to drive social change.

In this seminar we will discuss impact monetisation, within the context of impact measurement. In response to the increasing demands of measuring social and environmental impact, there has been renewed interest in assigning monetary numbers to social and environmental value. With this comes a range of different approaches, choices, and consequences. Join Sam Vionnet, Founder of Valuing Impact, and Karim Harji, Director of the Oxford Impact Measurement Programme, with Marya Besharov, Academic Director of the Skoll Centre, as for a timely and provocative discussion on monetizing and valuing impact.

Speaking:

Karim Harji is the Programme Director of the Oxford Impact Measurement Programme at the Said Business School, University of Oxford, where he also teaches in the Impact Investing and Impact Finance Innovations executive programmes. He is also a Skoll Centre Fellow. Karim has published on industry trends and innovative practices in impact investing; supported field-building initiatives to promote the value and integrity of impact measurement; and designed social impact education and training programs across established and emerging markets.

Sam Vionnet is the founder of Valuing Impact, a boutique consulting firm which supports organizations to measure and value natural, social and human capital across value chains, to support decision-making and strategies. Valuing impact works with multinational companies, impact funds and family offices across the world while investing in parallel in the development of data and methods innovations for the next generation of impact measurement.
