About this event

The Hannibal Arts Council will present IMPACT 2.0, a week-long art camp, from July 8-12. The camp is designed to reach students who will be going into the 3rd through 8th grades in the Fall of 2024. There will be a 9:00 a.m.-Noon session for students going into the 3rd through 5th grades. The week-long art camp will be held at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S Main St. Registration is free and space is limited. Quick registration and a commitment to attending each of the five days is strongly encouraged.

IMPACT 2.0 will provide students going into the 3rd through 5th grades with in-depth opportunities to work alongside local artists and arts educators, learn about a variety of art forms and create their own original art. Art forms included in the week-long art camp will be pastel painting, wire sculpture, clay carving, tissue paper collage, burlap weaving, cord knotting and Pop Art resist. Instructors include Becky Evans, Beth Hinton, Steve Holt, Vilma Holt and Cyndi Taylor.

“HAC frequently sponsors youth programs that are fun and engaging however we felt the need to offer a more in-depth art experience, and IMPACT 2.0 is our opportunity,” says Brenda Beck Fisher, HAC Program Coordinator. “Mixing participants with local artists and arts educators can play a role in sparking an interest in the arts and nurturing their creative spirit. We are excited to be able to expand the grade levels this year thanks to our partners and sponsors.”

The number of participants is limited, and registration is required. To register, go online to hannibalartscouncil.eventbrite.com, call 573-221-6545 or stop by 105 S Main St. (9am-Noon Mon-Fri). The program is free, thanks to the partnership and support of the Riedel Foundation, General Mills Hometown Grantmaking Program, Community Foundation of West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri, the Jesse David Cox Memorial Fund and the Missouri Arts Council.
