Gerry is a past board member of the Midwest Eye-Banks and a current ambassador for Eversight Eye Bank. Additionally, he served as President of the Plainfield Lion’s Club, 2010-11, and is currently a member of the Bellwood Lion’s Club.

Gerry earned a bachelor's Degree of Arts in Social and Community Studies, as well as a Master's Degree of Arts, in Organizational Leadership, both from Lewis University. Gerry has certification with Wainwright Professional Coaching and has participated in several other coaching education venues. He completed doctoral requirements at Cardinal Stritch University focused on Learning, Leadership, and Service, with his research topic centering around "The Phenomena of Producing, Accumulating and Distributing Love at Work."
