The result of such a crisis was his profound Horn Trio, a mature work that synthesized both the avant-garde and the traditional during a time of deep musical and political polarization. Inspired by both Beethoven and Brahms, who also feature in this unique concert, Ligeti’s alluring Trio remains one of the most influential and important chamber works post-1950.
