IMA MFA Spring 2020 Thesis projects will be available to watch starting at 5pm on Friday, May 29th until 11:59pm on Sunday, May 31st. You can view the work at your convienience during that timeframe. Mustapha Azemmouri, born in 1502, undertakes a journey to the 21st century. He recounts his story of enslavement and exploration. As the family struggles to keep the store relevant, the film captures a small business that has persevered, if not triumphed, over the profound changes taking place in the city and society. He gradually discovers that there is something intergenerationally connecting them all together. The more he understands, the more courage he has to unfold something he’s never known.Advisors: Reiko Tahara, Kelly Anderson, Andrew Lund-----------------------------------------------------------------------------The Life of Danby: Jeremy LevineRunning Time: 30 minutesDescription: The Life of Dan is a hybrid film about the complications of brotherly love and working through the horrors of the past. The film explores past traumas between brothers Dan and Jeremy Levine through their shared love of horror films. As the brothers work through unsettled moments from their childhoods, the documentary transforms into a horror film about mental illness and traumatic memory.Advisors: Kelly Anderson, Andrew Lund, Michael Gitlin -------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dear Elsa: 10 Letters + 10 ExperimentsAmanda MaddenRunning Time: 32 minutesDescription: Through a series of channeling experiments and letters, filmmaker, Amanda Madden, attempts to embody and communicate with the ghost of the radical poet, model, performance artist, sculptor, and time traveler, Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven (1874-1927) about living and creating as a womxn artist.Advisors: Kelly Anderson, Andrew Lund, Reiko Tahara
