<h2>Illustration for Beginners | Virtual Workshop</h2>This free workshop is offered as a part of SPF 2020: Small Press Fair Fort LauderdaleIllustration begins with learning how to analyze and re-contextualize the world around us. In this course we visit some basic design principles and techniques, explore different illustrators, and do some exercises to get you started illustrating by viewing the world through different lenses. Starting off with basics such as shape, line, and form, the course culminates with sketchbook exercises to create the habit of illustration. Materials Required:<ul><li>Notebooks and sketchbooks (any size, preferably sketch and multimedia paper)</li><li>Pencils: HB or 2B</li><li>Erasers</li><li>Pens: brush pens, markers, ballpoint, micron, etc.</li><li>Nib and quill</li><li>India ink</li><li>Brushes: Variety is ideal! Anything works</li><li>Paper towels</li><li>Optional: watercolors, geometric template ruler, posca markers</li></ul>About the Instructor:Caro Gutierrez is a multidisciplinary artist and designer currently living in Miami, FL. She is a freelance illustrator and previously worked in art direction and product development. Her love for music, art history, and food are all driving themes in her illustrations. She graduated in 2017 from Emerson College, where she focused on Global &amp; Post-Colonial art and film history. Her experience includes conducting research for Boston&#x27;s Museum of fine arts in 2018. When she is not illustrating or cooking, she&#x27;s usually writing music or biking.
