The "Energy Sector Threat Brief: 2024 Round Up" will examine key cybersecurity incidents affecting the energy sector over the past year. Megan Culler highlights trends in vulnerability disclosure, operational impacts, and the evolving geopolitical landscape, while offering lessons for operators and partners to mitigate risks in 2025 amidst a more complex and interconnected grid. The focus will be on lessons learned from the 2024 trends that operators and their partners can apply to stay ahead of the threats in 2025.Megan Culler is a power engineer and researcher working in Research Acceleration and Infrastructure Security at Idaho National Laboratory, where she has been for the past four years. Her work focuses on risk and resilience for power systems, with a concentration on cybersecurity and energy security needed for grid modernization challenges, which includes the increased penetration of renewable energy and inverter-based resources, transmission congestion and queuing delays, and increased digitization. She earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from Texas A&amp;M, with a concentration in power systems, and minors in cybersecurity and computer science. She earned an M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with dual concentrations in power systems and cybersecurity.
