Igniting Ideas: How Spaces & Provocations Launch Emergent Projects
Overview
Join Vicky de la Garza, Atelierista, and Rosa Vega, Early Childhood Teacher, in the Advent Atelier for an interactive session exploring how intentional environments and thoughtful provocations spark children’s curiosity and launch emergent projects. You will see projects in their early stages, observe the first sparks of interest, and hear stories of how the learning has unfolded so far this school year. Together, we will generate ideas for the next steps in projects, considering the following:
- How to set up a classroom and create an environment that invites curiosity
- How to identify a topic or idea that could lead to a long-term investigation
- What types of materials can be used to provoke ideas and deeper engagement
- How to pose questions that support children in thinking deeply about a topic and scaffold the next step in the investigation
This workshop is for teachers, teaching teams, teacher coaches, and others interested in learning how to support emergent, co-construction project work.
The workshop is in person at The Advent School at 15 Brimmer St. (main building).
Schedule:
