Ignite is a night of speedy presentations. Presenting on a subject of their choice, speakers have exactly 5 minutes to teach something, enlighten us, or simply inspire but the twist is they have 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds. What will you share in just 5 minutes?

Ignite Talks is back! We are hosting our 15th community Ignite Talks event in San Francisco on October 11!

In the style of Ignite, speakers have precisely 5 minutes to amuse, educate, enlighten, or inspire the audience on the subject of their choice. The auto-advancing slides often create wacky scenarios for the speakers on stage as they speed up or slow down to keep time with the slides. This will be a small, intimate event. Talks will be recorded. Doors open at 7 PM. Show starts at 7:30 PM. Get there early to participate in our interactive audience icebreaker.

I Want to Know if You&#x27;re a Hidden Creative Genius<a href="https://twitter.com/ferociousj" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jon Sung</a> Jon Sung is a copywriter, musician, podcaster, event organizer, and amateur sculptor currently focused on providing top-tier logistical and emotional support for his family in the SF Bay area, though he may be hireable if you have something super interesting to work on. He can be found, lightly stalked, and befriended through any combination of resources found at flavor.country. He hopes you&#x27;re having a very good day.

Heaven on Earth: How to Build a Self-Improving Society<a href="https://twitter.com/Nick_B_Adams" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">B﻿righam Adams, Ph.D. </a>Brigham Adams is Founder &amp; Chief Scientist of the Goodly Labs, Director and primary creator of the Public Editor misinformation detection and mass media literacy training software, and inventor of TagWorks distributed annotation technology. Brigham earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, where he pioneered natural language processing methods for event analysis, helped start-up the D-Lab and Berkeley Institute for Data Science, and founded thriving organizations like the Computational Text Analysis Working Group and Text Across Domains. His most ambitious current efforts seek to establish a government-funded ProSocial Technology accelerator centered in the HBCUs of Atlanta. When more relaxed, he enjoys writing poetry and music.

E﻿clipsing Oprah&#x27;s Book Club<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/melanievuynovich/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">M﻿elanie Vuynovich</a>Melanie Vuynovich is a voracious reader, sometimes writer, frequent traveler, education consultant, and freelance philosopher who has called San Francisco home for more than 20 years. Like Lemony Snicket, Melanie will probably die next to a pile of books she was meaning to read.

My Second Heart Beating!<a href="https://twitter.com/sandyraman?lang=en" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">S﻿andhya Raman</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/sandyraman?lang=en" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a>Sandhya&#x27;s inspiration is her mother, a veteran teacher. Sandhya self-identifies as a “carb-ivore” and strongly believes that travel is the best teacher, although her favorite pastimes include sleeping, hand embroidery, reading, hiking, and of course, traveling.A lifelong learner, Sandhya is an engineer with a Masters in Education from University of Southern California, and is presently pursuing National Board Certification for Teachers. She has actively been presenting at conferences across the country around mathematical practices, social justice and universal access for learning in mathematics, and pedagogical best practices. She believes that everyone can learn, albeit at their own pace, and learning is best when individualized and reflective.

Dr Anna Leshinskaya is a cognitive scientist working at UC Davis to better understand how the healthy brain achieves its remarkable ability to learn and build new knowledge of the world around us. She holds a PhD from Harvard University and is the principal investigator on a grant from the NSF to understand the computational basis of how we learn about event relations from experience. She is an avid backpacker and all-round nature explorer in her spare time.

My Life Through Slogans<a href="https://twitter.com/jodilomask" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">J﻿odi Lomask</a>Upon founding non-profit Capacitor in 1997, Jodi Lomask began exploring the intersection of science, environmentalism and new technology through dance, sound and sculpture. She designs motion sculptures that are only complete when the human body interacts with them. She has toured internationally with her company, creating shows inspired by the deep Earth and ocean, the forest canopy and creativity in the brain, outer space and flower sexuality, and the people who research them. She has been commissioned to create original works for Apple, NASA, TED, SF Airport and the Discovery Channel. She was awarded the Isadora Duncan Award for Sustained Achievement and named an Ocean Luminary by the Museum of Natural History.She has gone on speaking tours to discuss creative problem solving and interdisciplinary collaboration between artists and scientists. She has been an artist in residence at the UCSF Neuroscape Lab, The Lab SF, California Academy of Sciences, CounterPulse, Zaccho, and The Kennedy Center, along with Yaddo and Djerassi Artist Colonies. Her work has been covered by Nature Magazine, Wired, TechTV, NPR, as well as The New York Times, Time out, the Smithsonian Magazine and Dance Magazine. She has directed multiple award winning 2D and VR180 films. She considers herself an experiential tour guide - making dances and environments that affect how people sense their bodies and minds. She is a professional psychedelic guide creating bespoke experiences for people who want to unleash their full creative force.

H﻿ow to Have the Perfect Day<a href="https://www.charleneli.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">C﻿harlene Li</a>Charlene Li is an expert on business transformation strategy and disruptive leadership, and the NYT bestselling author of six books, including her latest, &quot;The Disruption Mindset&quot;. She is Chief Research Officer at PA Consulting and has worked with hundreds of top companies, ranging from Adobe to Southwest Airlines, and advised 14 of the Dow Jones Industrial 30 companies. She is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School and was named by one of the most creative people in business by Fast Company.

﻿How to Survive an Ostrich Attack<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/elizabethkicko/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Elizabeth Kicko</a>Elizabeth Kicko is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife, mother, and dabbler of many odd and fascinating things. In her career as a nurse, she has delivered, revived, and witnessed the passing of many humans from this earth. Other than having profound knowledge about ostrich survival techniques, she is relatively illiterate about native African animals. She has more plants than underwear and less underwear than sweaters.

Deconstructing White Supremacy!<a href="https://twitter.com/HopeUniteHere" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Hope Williams</a>Hope Williams is the Co-Director of the Radical Real Estate Law School and a legal apprentice through the Sustainable Economies Law Center. As a black queer woman in the Bay Area she is devoted to housing rights and organizing people-power to fight the oppressive white supremacist regime. Hope is the board president of the San Francisco Community Land Trust and the East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative and a board member of the California Community Land Trust Network. Her background includes managing political campaigns, labor organizing, state housing policy, and coalescing with tenants&#x27; rights organizations. Hope serves as a Commissioner for the City of San Francisco and in her spare time, she secretly trains people on how to organize coordinated acts of civil disobedience.

T﻿he City of Awe<a href="https://illuminate.org/about-fix/ben-davis/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">B﻿en Davis</a>Ben runs the SF-based arts nonprofit Illuminate. This is the small group behind many of San Francisco&#x27;s largest and most beloved works of public art. Successes include The Bay Lights on the Bay Bridge, the nightly Summer of Love lighting on the Conservatory of Flowers, the lighting of The Pink Triangle on Twin Peaks during Pride Month, the revival of the Golden Gate Bandshell (including hosting 125 live free concerts there this year), the giant laser rainbow that appeared over Market Street during Pride Weekend this year, and most currently, the Golden Mile Project on JFK Promenade in Golden Gate Park. Despite receiving invitations to work in cities worldwide, Ben has chosen to stay put, go deep, and build community, concentrating his creative efforts exclusively in San Francisco. Next up for Illuminate recasting San Francisco as the City of Awe.
