IEMC webinar: I HATE Sorting Socks!
Introduction to personal ecosystems, coregulation, and mindfulness
Non-Pharmacological interventions are defined as "care approaches that are unique to the individual that are used to redirect a behavioral expression." You and your team created them for each person you support, but why are they not working? It's more than just sorting socks...
This session will focus on how you and your team can identify meaningful interactions that support a persons micro-system and create a world where the staff AND the individual can co-regulate.
Learning Objectives:
- Define non-pharmacological interventions and explain their role in responding to behavioral expressions in individuals living with dementia
- Identify common reasons why individualized interventions may be ineffective despite being thoughtfully developed
- Describe the concept of a person’s microsystem and its influence on behavior, engagement, and emotional well-being
- Analyze how staff interactions, environment, and routines impact the success of care approaches
- Apply strategies to design meaningful, relationship-based interactions that go beyond task-oriented activities
- Demonstrate approaches that support co-regulation between staff and individuals living with dementia
