Code Engine is IBM's new flagship serverless platform, designed to leapfrog the competition by running containers, 12-factor apps, batch jobs and functions on a unified platform. Speakers

Uwe Fassnacht is a Product Director at IBM Cloud, where he is responsible for the Code Engine offering. He is leading a team of product managers and working collaboratively with design and development leaders to translate market requirements into product roadmaps and business outcomes. In his previous role, Uwe led a worldwide team of developer advocates. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University in Stuttgart, Germany. When he isn’t working, you’ll find Uwe hiking or paragliding in the Alps.

Simon Moser has been with IBM since 2003, where he is currently the lead architect for the Serverless and PaaS parts of the IBM Cloud. He is interested in many aspects of clouds and distributed systems, emphasizing on technologies that allow systems to manage themselves. After receiving his M.Eng., he started his career in various development roles around application servers and Business Process Management, and started his journey in Cloud Computing in 2010. Along the way, he has been chairing various program and steering committees, has been publishing many papers and given many talks at various international conferences. He’s listed as an inventor on a good dozen US patents, and has adjunct lecturer appointments at the University of Jena & University of Esslingen, Germany. In his spare time, he’s torturing various musical instruments.
