About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Do thine thoughts turn to verse? Canst thou woo with words or duel with a quill? Then lend us thy finest fourteen lines and enter our Shakespearean Sonnet Contest, part of this year's Much Ado About Reading celebration!

At 3:00 p.m., join us for a lively dramatic reading of sonnet submissions—performed with appropriate pomp, flair, and flourish. We'll crown two winners:
👑 Critic’s Choice – selected by our esteemed panel
🎭 Crowd Favorite – chosen by our audience of groundlings

✨All sonnets will be featured in a limited-edition Much Ado About Reading Zine, free while supplies last!

How to Enter:

  • Write an original Shakespearean-style sonnet (14 lines, iambic pentameter encouraged but not required—bonus points for wit, drama, and bookish themes!)
  • Submit your sonnet via Google Form by April 18
  • All ages welcome to participate!

Whether you’re a hopeless romantic, a pun-loving rogue, or a melancholy poet brooding by candlelight, this contest is for you.

✍️ Prizes, applause, and eternal literary glory await.
