<h3>Following the central ideas of Hypertopia, STATE Studio is happy to introduce you to this practice with an online workshop held by artist~facilitator Ela Spalding.</h3>Mudras are hand positions that alter your mood, attitudes and perception, helping you deepen your awareness and concentration to overcome physical, mental or emotional blockages.Paired with vulnerable ecosystems in her artwork In Our Hands, artist~facilitator Ela Spalding proposes to build a bridge between ourselves and our surroundings, suggesting a correlation between our state of health and that of the planet.During the workshop you will learn simple yet powerful techniques to practice and integrate mudras into your daily lives! Maybe we are more closely connected to our planet than we thought?About the artist:Ela Spalding (Panama, 1982) is an artist~facilitator and cultural producer exploring the space of art as an elegant conduit to practice and convey expanded notions of ecology. Her professional background is in film, photography, dance and somatic awareness practices with a keen interest in sound and wellbeing. She combines these influences to invite listening and resonance within and without. Her artwork has been shown in the XIII Bienal de La Habana, Cuba (2019), the X Bienal Centroamericana in Costa Rica (2016), Bienal de Artes Visuales del Istmo Centroamericano (Bavic9) in Guatemala in 2014, as well as collective exhibitions in Panama, Germany and Austria. She worked with Tino Sehgal in This Variation in dOCUMENTA(13) (2012) in Kassel, Germany; and with Ari Benjamin Meyers in his work Serious Immobilities (2013) for Esther Schipper Gallery, Berlin, Germany. She is founder and Creative Director of Estudio Nuboso – a nomadic platform for exchange between art, science, nature and society, tackling environmental issues in different bio-cultural contexts in Panama. She is also a founding member of Archipel Stations Community Radio – a Berlin-based and international, cross-cultural web community radio with live and bandwidth iterations. She lives in Berlin and spends seasons in Panama when possible. www.elaspalding.comAbout HypertopiaHypertopia bridges between today and tomorrow. Powered by the vision of a collective change in consciousness, the interdisciplinary program and exhibition anticipates a post-crisis future to explore approaches for a meaningful present. With a selection of artistic positions, propositions and exploratory projects that incorporate scientific methods as well as speculative modes of thought, Hypertopia challenges hierarchies, probes ideas, and imagines scenarios for a new planetary optimism.The exhibition presents works by Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg (UK), Ani Liu (USA), Dominique Koch (CH), Salvatore Iaconesi and Oriana Persico (IT), Himali Singh Soin (UK/IND) and Jana Maria Dohmann (D).
