Hypercube plays ICEBERG

ICEBERG New Music is a collective of ten young composers based in New York City. ICEBERG's mission is to promote the idea that substance, not surface, is the heart of music creation and perception. The collective's ten member composers hail from different schools of thought and cultivate radically different sounds – from musical theater and indie rock to avant-garde sounds and electronic installations – but their contrasting musical languages belie a shared emphasis on structure and depth of meaning. When these artists compose for the same ensemble and present their works during a joint concert, the result is a glimpse into the ever-widening possibilities of art music in the twenty-first century.ICEBERG is committed to excellence of craft, “radical inclusiveness” of style, and educational outreach on behalf of the new music community. During their inaugural 2016-17 season, the collective presented two concerts of world premieres in Manhattan, featuring acclaimed ensembles Contemporaneous and loadbang. In 2017-18, ICEBERG's concerts will feature Mivos Quartet and Yarn|Wire. All of the organization's events are followed by a community Q&A, giving audience members the opportunity to engage directly with the composers and performers about the music they just heard.

Tenri Cultural Institute

Hailed by The Washington Post as &quot;Jarring and compelling,&quot; Hypercube is an ultra-virtuosic quartet comprised of Erin Rogers (saxophone), Jay Sorce (guitar), Andrea Lodge (piano &amp; accordion), and Chris Graham (percussion). Champions of music from the 20th Century and today, Hypercube have toured extensively throughout North America, and commissioned works by Chris Cerrone, Eric Wubbels, and many others. Their first album will be released in 2019 by New Focus Recordings.
On February 15, Hypercube will premiere new pieces by ICEBERG member composers Drake Andersen, Stephanie Ann Boyd, Victor Baez, Derek Cooper and Max Grafe. Like all ICEBERG events, this concert will be preceded by an open bar happy hour and followed by conversation with the performers and composers.Admission includes open bar.
