About this Event

Hydroponics is the growth of produce in an aquatic setting without the use of soil as the host. Nutrients are added to the environment to help create nutrient-dense produce. In this workshop, farm owners will cover:

-The benefits of hydroponic farming and how it is a viable solution to our food crisis

-Give a guided tour of the hydroponic system and the greenhouse

-Determine which crops are best suited for hydroponic farming

-Discuss pest control in the greenhouse without the use of pesticides

Skydog Farm is owned and operated by Mark Phillips and Katherine Fotiades and has been in business for over 25 years. The farm offers a variety of hydroponically grown/pesticide free leafy greens and culinary herbs, fresh basil, beautiful hand crafted succulent arrangements – all created with plants propagated in their greenhouses.

This is a free event. Registration is a courtesy for our Host Farms. Last minute attendees are welcome! Photographs may be taken at this event to be used for NOFA RI promotional material and appear on our webpage. This event is funded through the RI DEM via a USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant.
