Event description

Description

The humanitarian community describes the severe nutrition situation in Nigeria, Somalia, Yemen and South-Sudan as the four famines and experts warn that it will be the worst humanitarian disaster since the establishment of the UN in 1945.

Action Against Hunger and the Danish Refugee Council are both assisting people in the affected countries and first-hand witnesses the linkages between hunger and displacement, and the catastrophic human consequences. We are now joining efforts to get a better understanding of the operational realities based on evidence from the field, as well as to reflect on solutions to the vicious circle of hunger and forced displacement.

The conference will address how humanitarian actors understand and respond to hunger in displacement, and how the lack of access to food can lead to forced displacement. The panel discussions will be followed by a reception.
