Event Details

The 2016 Symposium has a focus on Transparency across the health care value chain.

Focusing on transparency in clinical practice, the program will be commenced with an address by Dr. Marty Makary from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and their Global Health Initiative.  Dr. Makary speaks nationally on new technology in surgical care, quality and safety in medicine, and health policy.  He is a regular medical guest on CNN and FOX News, and is the author of several books on public health and surgery, patient safety, quality of care, and health policy.

Following Dr. Makary's address, a panel from leaders across the value chain will be moderated by Larry McComber.  McComber is an independent healthcare consultant with extensive experience in health system practice and group purchasing.  In 1997, following more than 20 years as a health system pharmacy executive, he joined VHA, and ultimately Novation, as Senior Vice President for Strategic Services. Prior to leaving Novation he provided leadership for several areas including marketing and sales, member relations, Novation's private label program and committed programs.  He served as the executive liaison to Apexus, the prime vendor for the 340B pharmacy program and continues as chair of the Apexus Advisory Board.

The panel will include representatives of the health care supply chain industry including purchasing groups, suppliers, and information technology.  Panelists include:

  • Steve Cochran, Chief Technology Officer, GHX.  Cochran is a senior executive with more than 20 years of successful enterprise technology, M&A, product marketing and operational execution experience in a range of organizations.  As Chief Technology Officer, Cochran's expertise in technology and business strategy, as well as product development and deployment, is invaluable as he leads a team of global product architects, development, quality, program management and operation professionals.

  • Todd Ebert, President and CEO, Healthcare Supply Chain Association (HCSA). Ebert is a nationally recognized supply chain leader, a group purchasing industry expert, and a registered pharmacist with more than 30 years of healthcare experience. Ebert joined HSCA in 2015 from Amerinet, Inc., a national healthcare solutions organization and HSCA member, where he had served as President and CEO since 2007. Ebert is a former Chair of HSCA and is the immediate past Chair of the Healthcare Industry Supply Chain Institute (HISCI).

  • Shelby Fletcher, Government Relations Director, Pfizer, Inc. Fletcher serves as Director of Government Relations for Pfizer, Inc. In 1987 she left the Central Intelligence Agency to join Pfizer.  As a Government Relations Director, Fletcher has responsibility for the legislative, regulatory, advocacy relations and public affairs functions for a number of Western states, including Arizona. Throughout her diverse 25 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry, she has gained valuable insight into managed care administration, regulatory oversight, patient advocacy, product development and marketing, and the legislative arena.
