About this event

As Durham City and County staff are reflecting on how to use data to ensure racial equity in the outcomes of their work, the Durham Compass can provide a lot of insight. Whether you are in Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Planning or the Police Department this site will help you understand Durham with a racial equity lens.

In this 1-hour workshop we will review the content and uses of this neighborhood data tool and learn how to use it for your work in City and County budgeting, program planning and more. Participants will learn through examples how to answer questions like:

  • Are capital improvement plan (CIP) projects in areas that require greater effort to create community control over results?
  • Will a proposed project or plan be in a community that needs it most?
  • How can we know where to invest more with community leadership to create a more equitable Durham?

Training will be provided by DataWorks NC staff, who maintain and develop the Durham Compass.
