About this event

Everyday passionate people start nonprofit organizations without a full understanding of what it will take to start and sustain a nonprofit business positioned to achieve its mission and make that the impact the founder(s) hope for. Almost weekly I am contacted by people who are sad, frustrated and ready to give up because things didn't go as they expected.

I decided to offer at least once a quarter this free webinar for anyone who recently started a nonprofit and feels stuck or is thinking about starting a nonprofit and wants to make an informed decision about what they are getting into and how to avoid common mistakes.

My name is Michelle Nusum-Smith and I am Owner and Principal Consultant at The Word Woman LLC. A licensed consultant, coach and trainer with more than 30 years of nonprofit experience, I have designed a free webinar where you will learn:

  • what you must do before "the paperwork"
  • who you need on your team (you cannot do it alone)
  • how to recruit a board of directors
  • how obtain tax-exempt status and what you need to do before you start fundraising
  • how to plan your first year
  • what it takes to stay in compliance with the government.

I will also discuss your other options to “do good” if you determine start starting a nonprofit isn't for you.

If you are going to join us, please register ASAP because participation will be limited to ensure a quality experience for all.
