About this event

In this workshop you will learn basic skills to give you the ability to complete most projects. Every attendee will leave with a sewn card case of their own. These are great for gift cards or as small ID holders to use for yourself or gift to a friend/family member! You do not need an authorization to use our sewing machines, this is just a skills course. You may take either sewing at either location and may use machines at both as well.

MUST BE DEPAUL STUDENT, FACULTY, OR ALUMNI TO ATTEND.

Frequently asked questions

How long will this workshop last and what are we doing?

On average this workshop takes about 1.5 hours to teach. We will go over selecting fabrics, using a pattern, setting up sewing machine, practice, and finally creating our craft!

Do I have to bring my own materials?

No, we provide everything here for free! In return we ask that you be respectful of other patrons and clean up after yourself. We have some materials and fabrics here but if you need a specific fabric for a project, you will have to purchase that yourself.

Wait! What if I forget something after this workshop?

Don't worry! When attempting to sew on your own don't be afraid to ask a staff member for guidance when you get stuck. We are here to help answer any questions, just let us know you've received your authorization but need some assistance.

What specific skills are we covering?

How to use a pattern, flipping fabric inside out, seam allowance, common mistakes, sewing on curves, straight stitch, hemming, pinning, machine anatomy, and winding a bobbin.
