It’s always so interesting to learn how things came to be - from origin stories in comics, to podcasts about entrepreneurs, to investor shows on network television. And when it comes to creating companies, women have been crushing it.From 2007 to 2018, women-owned businesses grew by 58% in terms of the number of firms and 46% in terms of revenue. The number of firms owned by Black women has grown by 164% since 2007. And in 2019, 20% of newly funded startups had a female founder.We’re excited to have three amazing founders join the panel as we dig into their stories and the companies they’ve created. Geetika Agrawal, CEO &amp; Founder @ <a href="https://vawaa.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Vacation with An Artist </a>Geetika Agrawal is Founder and CEO at Vacation with An Artist (VAWAA) - the first curated global platform to book mini-apprenticeships with master artists and craftspeople around the world. Her mission is to help deepen human connections, promote curiosity, and preserve global arts and crafts. Prior to VAWAA, she was a Creative Director at R/GA leading product and experience design teams. In 2015, she traveled for a year to 12 countries to build VAWAA and run an international traveling dinner series Food For Thought. Her work has won global recognition and featured in leading publications like Forbes, Travel + Leisure, VICE, Artsy, National Geographic and more. She has also served as an Adjunct Faculty at School of Visual Arts, New York and is a mentor/advisor to young talent. A stubborn optimist and a world traveler, she is currently based in New York growing her plant collection.

Lisa Clunie, CEO &amp; Founder @ <a href="https://www.joancreative.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Joan</a>Lisa Clunie is the co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of JOAN. In the past few years, JOAN has launched a series of companies under its banner. JOAN Creative develops brand strategies and premium advertising for a broad range of clients, including Facebook, Uber, Virgin Hotels, Keds, SafeAuto, Georgia Pacific and General Mills. Damn Joan creates playful and provocative original content for its hyper-loyal audience, defined by their joyfully rebellious spirit. JOAN Studios is an at-scale production and distribution company. JOAN was named Agency to Watch by AdAge in 2018. In 2020, JOAN was awarded two Effie awards for outstanding creative effectiveness. Prior to launching her company in 2016, Lisa was the Chief Operating Officer for Refinery29.

Mel Jones, Co-Founder @ <a href="https://www.weareinvisible.co/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Invisible Collective</a>MEL JONES is a multi-talented producer, director, and writer. The Howard University alum holds a Bachelor of Science in Radio, Television and Film and later earned her Master of Fine Arts in Producing at the American Film Institute. Mel worked for Stephanie Allain’s Homegrown Pictures for 8 years and rose through the ranks serving as the President of Production for 5 years. She produced a film each year of her tenure. Jones’ credits include Sundance Film Festival hits Justin Simien’s Dear White People and Gerard McMurray’s Burning Sands. Subsequent films include Netflix Original Film Juanita starring Alfre Woodard and Blair Underwood and The Weekend starring Sasheer Zamata and Y&#x27;lan Noel which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Jones made her directorial debut at Sundance with “Leimert Park,” a MACRO/Homegrown digital series and also produced for them Really Love starring Kofi Siriboe which played SXSW.
