Public Service Recognition week is celebrated the first week of May since 1985 to honor the people who serve our nation as federal, state, county, local and tribal government employees. I am certain your agency has outstanding employees/teams who has contributed to mission accomplishment and deserves to be recognized! Please consider nominating them to be celebrated for their outstanding contributions during the Houston Federal Executive Board’s (HFEB) Annual Public Service Recognition Awards Ceremony on May 29th, 2024, at United Way near downtown Houston.


The nomination details are attached but a quick overview of them are listed below:


Categories:

Administrative Excellence Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Legal/Law Enforcement CFC Volunteer

Heroes of COVID-19 Supervisor/Team Leader

Community Service Interagency Collaboration

Team Excellence Customer Service Leadership Excellence


Eligibility:

All civilian and military federal employees of U.S. government departments, agencies and offices in the Houston Regional area are eligible for nomination.


Nomination Process:

1. Prepare Nomination Package(s) (described below)

  1. Request nomination pacakge and submit each individual nomination electronically to Valerie.Coleman@sba.gov by COB , Friday, March 21st, 2024 (request extension if needed). A confirmation email will be sent acknowledging your submission.

3. Nominations may be submitted by any person familiar with the nominee; however, the nomination must be approved and signed by the nominee’s agency head or local senior official.

4. Nominations are for the accomplishments of the nominee for calendar year 2023.

5. Employees may be nominated for more than one award category, but separate nomination packages must be submitted.

6. Prior year winners may not be nominated again in the same category.


Nomination Package:

1. Completed Nomination Form (included in this package)

2. Nomination Narrative. Following the outline below, supply a clear explanation (please restrict to no more 2 pages) of why your nominee should be chosen. Please limit to 2 pages. Please submit in Arial, minimum font size 12.


a) Accomplishments: Describe specific accomplishments that relate to the award category. Include the manner and extent to which it exceeds normal job expectations. Be sure to include all pertinent dates and durations of activities.


b) Impact: Describe the impact that the nominee's activities have had on the organization, staff, other organizations, and/or customers served.


3. Please ensure that your nomination matches with the box that you have checked on the form.

4. If your nominee is selected as a finalist, we will request a digital photo at a later date.


Awards Ceremony:

Awards will be formally presented at a in person ceremony on May 29th, 2024, at United Way near downtown Houston.
