Horseshoe Crabs have been around for over 450 million years! And we have come to rely on them. Any vaccine or medical implant must be tested with a compound found in horseshoe crab blood to detect the presence of bacteria.
Join us in a state-wide effort to monitor their population and inform policy that will help sustain their population for generations to come.
Back to the Bays, an initiative of CCE Marine Program, oversees the monitoring of horseshoe crabs at the Tiana Bayside site, coordinated by Daniell Morris. To register for a date at the Tiana Bayside site, please signup on Eventbrite, and then visit nyhorseshoecrab.org/tiana-bayside to review the protocols and additional information.
