About this event
The annual Hopkins symposium at The Royal Children’s Hospital covers practical topics in paediatric neurology, and is designed primarily for general paediatricians.
It honours Dr Ian Hopkins, Australia’s first paediatric neurologist, who sadly passed away in 2019. Dr Hopkins commenced work as a paediatric neurologist at RCH in 1967 and was the inaugural Director of Neurology between 1977-1987. He retired from practice in 2001.
This symposium, formerly known as ’Practical Topics in the Paediatric Neurosciences’ has run annually since 1979.
This year the sympoisum will open with Dr Emma Macdonald-Laurs presenting Grand Round tited "Artificial Intelligence, big data and minimally invasive technologies: the future of epilspy therapies."
Following Grand Round, the symposium will cover a range of topics within paediatric neurology, with some case based scenarios and live polling for audience participation. There will be in-person (Ella Latham Auditorium at The Royal Children's Hospital) and online attendance options.
The Symposium will be recorded and available for viewing some weeks after the event on The Royal Children's Hospital Online Learning Platform (https://learn.rch.org.au/).
